Political leadership comes on to one page to... by umar-akmal Peshawar: Political leadership has reiterated that the war against terror would be continued till elimination of the last terrorist from Pakistani soil.The consensus emerged during meeting of the All Parties Conference (APC) held in Peshawar on Wednesday at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. According to the state media,the Prime Minister read out the unanimous resolution of the national political leadership at a news conference in Peshawar. Other political leaders were also present on the occasion. The leaders decided to form a Committee under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan to prepare a National Plan of Action against terrorism within a week. The Committee will have one representative each from parliamentary and other political parties. Representatives of the Armed Forces and intelligence agencies will also be part of the Committee. The National Plan of Action would be presented before the national political leadership in seven days for approval. It will then be placed before the nation by national political and military leadership. The meeting resolve that an effective national strategy should be formed and implemented to tackle the menace of terrorism. The leaders expressed grief over worst tragedy in Peshawar and said war against terror is our own war. They noted that the armed forces and security institutions rendered great sacrifices and destroyed numerous hideouts and their network. They said human tragedy in Peshawar is yet another cowardly act of fleeing terrorists. Moreover, the resolution lauded the sacrifices of the armed forces during operation Zarb-e-Azb as a result of which the network of terrorists has been broken and their hideouts destroyed. It inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists. The Tuesday’s December 16 a tragic incident was carried out by the fleeing terrorists. The resolution announced that there will be no discrimination between good and bad Talibans and the war against terror will continue with the national spirit. The Prime Minister lauded the confidence reposed on him by all the political leaders during the Conference. Answering a question, the Prime Minister thanked all political leaders including Imran Khan for attending the Conference. He said that big issues can be resolved through negotiations. To another question, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that fruitful talks were held with the Afghan President during his recent visit to Pakistan. He said leaders of the two countries agreed not to allow the use of their soil against each other. He said leaders of both the nations are sincere in this regard. Regarding the question of resolving political impasse, the PM said he has requested Imran Khan either to invite him or he join us on a cup of tea and deliberate on our differences. He said that we all are democratic forces and can resolve issues through democratic means. He expressed the resolve to solve issues through dialogue. Nawaz Sharif said he already had written the Chief Justice of Pakistan to constitute judicial commission. Referring to the Supreme Court’s recent decision, the prime minister said we should sit and discuss the issues in the light of that decision. Speaking on this occasion, PTI chairman Imran Khan said there is no ego involved from any side as far as our political differences are concerned. He said PTI is talking about electoral reforms and investigation of alleged rigging. He said PTI will accept whatever the decision will be of Judicial Commission. Imran Khan said all political forces on the issue of terrorism are united. He said all institutions and political forces will have to come together to fight this war. Imran Khan said that we are standing with the government at this critical hour. He said such incidents unite nations. He added his differences with the government are not based on ego rather this is the spirit of democracy. Later talking to newsmen, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah has said that the war on terror is not war of the Government but every Pakistani. He said there is complete consensus on what the Prime Minister said during his news conference.
