Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Sunday organised a massive Tahafuz Namoos-e-Risalaat march to voice its anger over execution of Mumtaz Qadri. The JI on this occasion announced to launch a countrywide drive against the ruling party over its alleged attempt to repeal the blasphemy laws. Thousands of people belonging to different walks of life participated in the march. Participants of the march were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans, condemning government's action of executing Mumtaz Qadri and the government's alleged attempt to repeal blasphemy laws. Grandson of Ghazi Abdul Qayyum also participated in the march. Medical and reception camps were set up while special areas were designated for parking of vehicles. Speaking on the occasion, JI chief Senator Seraj-ul-Haq paid rich tributes to Qadri, saying that the latter by sacrificing his life had given a message that Muslim Ummah was still alive and as such "no attempt to safeguard blasphemers will be tolerated". He said that the then government of Pervez Musharraf had also tried to play down the funeral of Amir Cheema but all his nefarious designs were foiled by the masses and same saga was being repeated. Accusing Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of placing himself in the category of traitors, the JI chief said that no one, including the United States, would be able to protect all those involved in the hanging of Qadri. He also alleged that the founders of Muslim League defended the killers of blasphemers but now the high ups have taken a U-turn. He said that though the PML-N-led government had hanged Qadri, every child of the nation would follow in the footprints of Qadri. Felicitating Karachiites for participating in the march in a large number, the JI leader said that the citizens had proved that they stood together with the lovers and followers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and not with the agents of foreign governments and international monitory institutions. Talking about the present government, he said that terrorism charges should also be framed against the corrupt rulers. On the occasion, he announced that the march is the beginning of a great movement and Tahfuz-e-Nammos Risalat marches would also be organised in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah, Lahore and other parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. JI Karachi chief Engr. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the spirit of people who participated in Qadri's funeral prayers has reached Karachi and the same was spreading across the country. At the outset, he asked PM Nawaz Sharif not to touch the blasphemy laws, or else he will be hot soup. He also criticised the media houses and Pemra for their `bias' attitude towards the forces supporting the blasphemy laws. JI Sindh Amir Dr. Meraj-ul-Huda Siddiqui said: "In 1929, Quaid-i-Azam was the lawyer of Ghazi Alam Din, who had killed a blasphemer, and Allama Iqbal had received his body after the British Viceroy hanged him and today the nation is stood where the Quaid was standing, but unfortunately Nawaz Sharif-led government has adopted the stance of British Viceroy." Others who spoke on the occasion included Maulana Aijaz Mustafa, IJT Karachi chief Hashim Yousaf Abdali, Maulana Azmatullah Shah Hamdani, Sahabzada Ahmed-ur-Rehman of JUI (S), Siddique Rathore of JUP-Noorani, TI Karachi chief Shujauddin Shaikh, Islami Tehreek's Allama Nazir Abbas Taqvi and JuD's Dr. Muhammad Muzamil.
